At first glance it's a brown/grey/taupe color, but it has strong plum undertones. It does have a little bit of a shimmery mica in it, but it's more matte than shimmery. This is a complex color- surprisingly versatile, and a great match to the popular but limited edition Moth Brown by MAC.
