Whisper?

Post by feyith » Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:29 pm

The description on Whisper sounds irresistible but I'm wondering if I already have something similar to it?

I've tried Purr and Nekkid, both were just a little bit too...I don't know, "salmon" colored(?) for me.

I have and love Mojave, Homecoming Queen and Queen for a Day. Do I need Whisper? (Something else?)

Okay, I can't really help you, but crazy that you asked this! I was actually thinking about making a Whisper topic when I signed in (Nekkid and Purr look a bit dark for what I want) but I think I read somewhere it looks just like a sheer wash of sparkle so then I thought Sandy but I am tanning a bit now so it might be too light. I'm just confused and confusing. ;)

If you're fair, Whisper is such a delicate colour, almost fragile! It's dainty, elegant and oh so feminine. Of the colours you listed, Emma, it's closest to Queen For A Day (my all-time feel-good colour, ever). Where QFAD is cool, pinkish and has little blue speckles, Whisper is neutral-barely warm, hinting towards a Sandy-esque peach-pink-flesh colour. They are different, certainly, but you'd best see the difference in colour wearing them on very fair skin. On darker skin, it would be a fairly sheer sparkle. That's great - us milky-white skinned girls need very delicate colours, too. Wearing it with a tan would lose it's subtlety and fine touch of colour.

So...is it like Sprite but with a bit of peachy pink in it? Trying to picture what it would look like as a highlight color. I have Sprite and love it, its like a soft white golden sheen.

Is Cherry Blossom too pink for you Emma? Different finish, I know, but it's a much cooler pink than Nekkid.

Now that I think of it, Whisper is a bit lighter and softer pink version of Mojave with plenty of sparkle. It's cooler than Purr, and I wouldn't even put it in the same category as Nekkid - that is, on my lids.

Whisper was too dark to use as a highlight for me Superwahz, for reference my foundation mix is 1:11 olive:ivory.

Throwing in the SN swatch photos for reference. It's categorized as a highlight:

It has a good deal of beige/gold in it. It's not as pink as nekkid or as peach as purr. It kind of looks like the lovechild of purr and quartzite with the depth and finish of the morphs (sheer wash of extra twinkly shimmer). It's very close to the shade something new i have from my wedding. I would call it a pink beige

Alright, this thread has convinced me I have been neglecting Whisper, so tomorrow I am going to do whisper inner half, Fleur outer half, lake as liner and lightly in the crease.

Thanks Lily! My foundation is lighter in the winter, but I think will work out to closer to yours in the summer (gotta sit down to day and make a new blend, the winter one is too pale now) so odds are Whisper may be too dark as a highlight color for me too. ;) Bet it will make a lovely lid color on the inner half!

Sam's description of it being a lovechild between Purr and Quartzite has convinced me it belongs on my wishlist!

Tiara, Cherry Blossom was actually kinda eye gunky off white on me. I don't know what it is about the color of my skin but the weirdly random mixed undertones seem to eat subtle pink pigments. :(

Thank you ladies for the color help though! I ended up getting Retro and Dreamy in addition to Whisper and it turns out: not only do I love them all - but also if they collectively have a baby, it makes QFAD! So I am very happy. Thank you! :D
