Here's a simple look with Pacific, UD's Kiddie Pool, and Boom.

Makeup starts at 1:50 if you wanna skip the hair part (which was kind of a dud this time due to the camera angle).

Ooooooh, I like that look! Don't think I've seen many pics of Pacific yet! I found it yesterday amid my mineral chaos (along with Hero and Aloha, Yay!).

And I just realized I didn't respond to your comments about clearness! I'm half asleep right now so I'll probably look at this tomorrow and laugh at myself for talking in circles.

I think there are people who need "clear" colors and those that need "muted" colors, this is separate from degrees of contrast, it has to do with clarity (or lack thereof) of the skin. So, if you have "clear" skin and wear muted colors on it, they will often make your face look dull and muddy, while people with "muted" skin wearing clear colors will look washed out and overpowered, all you'll see is the makeup. Effectively, both people look tired, their skin's natural radiance obscured by the colors that lack harmony with their skin. It's like putting Susan Sarandon's bronzer on Cameron Diaz...both women are warm, but one is clear while the other is muted!

I posted this pic in the FOTD recently, and it doesn't look bad: http://www.flickr.com/photos/puffalump2000/5102697808/

But Lola is a more muted lip color in comparison to this one I put on afterwards to compare: http://www.flickr.com/photos/puffalump2000/5102841032/

To my eye, the second pic is better, though the comparison would be even more dramatic if Lola was muted with more brown. The eye makeup is the same, I put the lip color on my lips and cheeks, it is a clear, bright strawberry red. It probably isn't the perfect color for me, but the clarity of it resulted in a much different effect in the picture. My eyes are brighter and clearer, my skin is even toned, everything is in sharper focus. If I put this color on my mother (who needs cool, but muted/softer colors) she'd disappear. A soft/muted rose pink would make her eyes sparkle though... ;) There are more dimensions to coloring than just clear vs muted, but that's for when I'm more awake! :D

Thanks for sharing. I have Pacific and love it but have no idea how to wear it.

skintone color analysis

Post by extemter » Wed Oct 27, 2010 3:28 am

Please excuse the partial hijacking of the thread, but superwahz has inspired me to share the links that taught me about color analysis of skintones: warm vs. cool, clear vs. muted, high-contrast vs. low-contrast. (I didn't author any of the linked URLs.)
