Oh no...D/C blushes

Post by royalgoddessbeth » Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:50 am

I'm so fair and I love the older, sheer blush shades, and I'm gutted over losing Jamie and Cocoaberry. Cocoaberry was marketed for darker skin but it was so sheer that I could wear it too, and Jamie is the prettiest neutral peach I've ever seen. :(

I'll admit those were hard for me to get rid of those...they were some of the first ones we made. Jamie and I made Jamie, Cocoaberry, Rich, and Strawberries & Champagne the second day she worked at the company. I am working on some very cool new things- and with pale skin I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with some of the new ones and we still have Jamie and Cocoaberry on the shelves for a few more days.

OK....it's just that so few online makeup stores really understand fair skin the way you do. Everything seems to be for "tans easily" and darker. Bronzers are too dark, make you look dirty, or orange. Blushes look like clown streaks and foundation is almost impossible to match properly. We have almost as hard a time as the ladies of color do.

HEAR, HEAR. It is fantastic to have someone as sensitive to the porcelain-skinned as you are, Karen. All of the above describes my makeup experience prior to SN.

I completly agree with zeeb and royalgodessbeth (love the name). My experiences were the same

Heck I didn't wear make up at all because I could NEVER find a foundation that match/suit my pale skin tone (I'm 16 ivory to 1 ebony), then a year and 6 months ago I discovered skilnaturals by chance on ebay and I could be happier. I love spending my hard earned money on Karen's pale, medium and dark friendly products. She really does cater to us all - I'm starting to feel spoiled :D

I love that I can change my foundation colour depending on my mood. And you would think that MORE cosmetic companies would realise that we are all individuals and have different skin tones. Every time I pop into Boots I take a quick gander at the foundations, the palest ones are always out of stock. Not to mention that every foundation in the shop seem to cater to yellow/warm tone women not cool/pink ones. If you look at the palest shade of many cosmetic lines its always are warm/beige tones, and if they have a cool pink tone its usually in medium not fair/light. It just sickens me that I was never able to wear foundation because it was all too dark or warm for me. If I did go to the cosmetic girls at the counters, they'd get their lightest shade put it on my face, then try to convince me that it would suit me - It looked like someone had smeared fake tan all over my face - urgh. I actually argued with a Clinique girl once complaining that I was sooooo sick that there wasn't even one foundation out there for me. I mean come on I live in england and I have a very english complexion, a very pale, pale cool toned skin. And I hate that everyone thinks if you have red hair you MUST be warm toned skin - WRONG!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant, it just bugs me sooo much that for years I didn't, no couldn't wear makeup because nothing suited me. So in conclusion to my little rant - Karen you ROCK and I am in love with anything to do with silknaturals and I swear that I'm getting help with stalking the website. The customers I talk to over the phone at work completely agree my stalking is justified :D

I do have to say this, however......discontinue things and you'll be pressured into D/C rounds like LUSH used to do before they put up that lame Retro stuff on their website.

Beach Bunny is the only bronzer I can wear. I have tried a lot and they end up being (another) brown eye shadow.

Same here! Before, I would look totally ridiculous trying to wear the tiniest amount of bronzer, but Beach Bunny is perfect :)

I'm so pale I don't even try to do the bronzer thing....but I do love Beach Bunny as a subtle brown-toned blush for me. I like that I don't have to *be careful* with it when I put it on...it just makes me look heathy.
Another of Karen's blushes that I love, that I would have NEVER tried had I not recieved a free sample is Tart. I don't do Pink. EVER. But just a little bit of Tart just makes me look like I've just stepped in from the cold and I am am all flushed and rosy. Even if the rest of my make-up is warm-toned, it still works.

For those be-moaning the loss of Jamie and Cocoaberry...try Maybe Baby or Beach Bunny with a light hand. They aren't the same colors, but (to me) they have the same warm-nude sort of effect.
