Hey Karmen
I love love love Charmed!!!! But I'm the same as you after Julian McMahon left ..........mmm Julian McMahon, where was I right after he left the show I sort of lost interest. I have watched up until season 6 and have watched 7 on dvd but not 8. I just can't face it yet. But when I've had a bad day and want some cheering up, I put on season 4 of charmed and watch for a few hours

The episode where him and Phoebe are training in the basement, with his shirt off would put a smile on any women.
Yeah I would say that Dark hunter is on the same scary scale as Harry Potter and Charmed. It's as dark as buffy, Angel and harry potter movies or even Interview with a vampire - the movie (haven't read the books of those two yet). The only things that scares me is my mother in the morning and ghost stories. There is a show in the UK called Most Haunted and when I watch the live shows I have to have the lights on
From the sounds of things Karmen I think you will really enjoy these books (I personally think anyone will but thats just me). The author classes herself as a goth and her books do reflected that but she has a great sense of humour and that's in her books too. Trust me, even though I love gothic, dark toned supernatural books (movies and TV shows) I will always grab for the funny. So if its dark and funny , I'm in book heaven

Even though I love Fantasy Lover, its wasn't until half way through Night Pleasure that I knew I was onto a winner.
If I remeber correctly, it took me 50 pages to get into fantasy lover. I stopped at pg 45, left the book for 6 months (I usallay have a few books on the go at times) then went back to it and I couldn't put it down. Does anyone else do that, start reading book, put it down then pick it back up again later. Then you find you stopped too short and now life has come to a stand still as you can't put it down.
I really do hope you enjoy the books Karmen, they are worth at least 1 chance of a read.

Life of Pi: did the taming of the tiger really happen, or not?
Did anybody else read this? What do you think?

Ghost,
I am SO excited that you liked Charmed for the same reason I did - Julian McMahon! Are we long-lost friends from another life?!

We seem to have a lot in common. I really need to at least rent the DVDs though and finish up the series and see what happened. I pretty much quit it after they killed off Beltheazor! So you think that was around season 4 then that I quit watching? I think Julian's gotten a lot more notoriety since Nip/Tuck came out. I watched that the first few seasons of that and really liked it but then sort of lost interest in that too (the whole story line with the carver and all of that got on my nerves!! Are you familiar w/ that show in the UK?) The first few seasons were really good and if you are into over the top and shocking it doesn't disappoint - it really isn't my style but of course with Julian being in it I watched.

I also watched the movie "Premonition" strictly because he was in it - didn't really like it that well but once again, because he was in it - oh well.... LOL.
Okay - you've talked me into it - I will definitely check into getting the first Sherrilyn Kenyon book at the library next time I go! I'll keep you updated!

Hi Ghost,
As you know I'm also anxiously awaiting the arrival of Acheron! I have agree that you should try the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Some others you should try are the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. The first is Moon Called. Another new series I just started and am waiting for the second book. The series is called the Dragonfire series. The first one is called Kiss of Fire by Deborah Cooke.

Hey Pinkfox & Karmen
Long lost friends form another life - of course. Thats the power of Julian McHahon
No Julian's character Cole dies in the 100th episode half through season 5. I still kept watching until 10 episodes in to season 7 then stopped, as the sorry lines got a bit "iffy" for me. Then finished 7, watching it on dvd. I haven't even thought of watching 8 yet. I caught a few episodes but again it looked "iffy". But I will finish it soon as I want to know the ending of charmed. Yeah I've heard of nip/tuck. Not my kind of show, but I did watch a couple of episodes because of him. Premonition, I haven't heard of that - gotta rent it then. Have fun reading fantasy lover (I know I did).
Hey Pinkfox
I have the Patricia Briggs but haven't read it through yet. I haven't heard of Deborah Cooke - defiantly look her up. A have a few you might want to try as well. Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series, 1st one is dead until dark. MaryJanice Davidson Betsy the Vampire Queen, her 1st one is undead and unwed, Susan Sizemore primal series 1st one is I burn for you and finally kelley Armstrong women of the other world, 1st one is bitten. I think that's enough suggestions for now (I really could go on forever lol).
I've just finished Kresley Cole I hunger for you - wow great book and I'm going to buy the next one in the series along with the new MaryJanice Davidson Betsy the queen book 7 undead and unworthy tomorrow - woohoo.
Acheron release countdown (in the UK): 5 weeks & 3 days Don't suppose you have figured out who Ash's Heroine is? I'm on the Troy band wagon. Hope he ends up with her but I'll settle for Cynthia. I know, I know Cynthia, she is alittle like Artemis in the dream hunter, but 10 years can change a person. But I really hope its Troy

Hi Ghost! I have read most of the Betsy the Queen series(hysterical!). a few of the Sookie Stackhouse ones, I like them, but you need to read them in order, and my library doesn't have them all, and I have read some of the Laurrell Hamilton ones. I enjoy them, but i end up getting really, really confused sometimes, and some of the group/human/werewolf/vampire sex scenes were just a LITTLE too weird for me.
There is another series that just came out not too long ago; it's about a soccer mom turned Buffy the vampire Killer, but I cannot remember the title or author, but I will look it up and post it.
Oh, and for you Janet Evanovich fans, a girlfriend and I attended a book-signing for her latest Stephanie Plum novel "Fearless Fourteen" last monday night. I got my picture taken with her and everything. There is a link somewhere over on the AtM board. I'm wearing all my SN and looking good.....LOL.

Hi Ghost -
Well, I went to the library tonight and grabbed what Sherrilyn Kenyon books they had that I could find - this was Dream Chaser, The Dream-Hunter, and Devil May Cry. On checking the computer it appears they may have a couple other ones, but must be checked out because I couldn't find them. I could probably get the other ones from other libraries (my mother works a little bit at a different library and can do that for me pretty easily.) So, if I read these that I got, I'll be way out of order - do you think I can do that, or will I be totally confused?!
Thanks!
K

Hey Karmen
Glad to hear you got some of the books but unfortunelty I really don't think you can reads out of order. You could proplery skip fantatsy lover but I personally feel you need to read them in order.
Swear I'm not being one of the people who have to read the series in order (even though I am lol), but each book introduces two main characters and few sub characters who may or may not have a book of their own down the line.
Best of luck tracking down fantasy lover

Ghost,
Alright - I'll take these back to the library and not read them - I'll do what I can about finding the other books first. I am already sidetracked though - I was in the library my mom works in, and walked right up to a copy of "Certain Girls" by Jennifer Weiner (which is a sequel to her book "Good in Bed" which I really liked a lot) and I wasn't even looking for it. I knew that book was in the works and I think I knew it was coming out this summer, but I hadn't even thought about it for a while or even started looking for it, and all of a sudden, there it was. I love it when things like that happen!

For Ghost -
I am reviving this old thread to tell you that I haven't had any luck with finding the Sherrilyn Kenyon books yet. I guess I need to hit a big bookstore (I live in a fairly small-ish town) or check Amazon. I did pick up a book today from a series I had heard about and kind of picked up the first one on a whim. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The other books in the series are New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Have you read these? Pretty much all I know is that they're about vampires? but are not scary?? We'll see!! I was just wondering if you had read or knew about these. I guess I'll be reporting back and letting you know about the scary or not part in a couple days!!
If you've already read them or know about them please feel free to share your opinion of course.
Hope you are well - haven't chatted w/ you in a while.... what's new with you?
Karmen
