hi there, i just ordered my foundation sample kit and would like to get some advice on color-matching. i can use both edm's fairly light neutral and olive fair (in the intensive formula), but i think that olive fair is a closer match in terms of the undertone. but i do feel that olive fair is a tiny bit too light for me. by the way, i'm ethnic chinese.

thanks in advance!

You should start with our Olive. Start at 1:12 and add a little more white if you need it. I think you should be pretty close to my ratio of about 1:14 (1 scoop color to 14 white). Olive Fair was one of the colors I wore long ago, but it was too light for me, too. It did match my undertones best.

Hi! again :)
I just wanna thank you JenW for your spot on recommendation for foundation blend, but I still have another question for you. I been trying the medium coverage for a while now, but it doesn´t do the trick for my skin so I was going to try the heavy instead, but do I have the same ratio of peach and ivory ?
And at the same time..if I wanna mix a bigger batch of it, lets say a 4g jar, how much of each?

Thanks for you time and help :)

I am unsure what jar size you are referring to (if it is an eyeshadow size, do you have a bigger one?), and I need a little more information about the ratio you used (was it about 0.5:8 or 1:16?). It is best to have a little space in the jar to mix. I have mixed in a snack sized zip lock bag before, too. Then I just dump it into the jar as needed. I use measuring spoons from the kitchen....a 1/8th or a 1/4th. I am happy to help you figure it all out, but I need just a little more info.

For figuring with a 1:16 ratio.......An eyeshadow jar will hold about 3/4 tsp. and your recipe is in 1/32s. A 1:16 ratio with the small spoon makes a little more than 1/2 tsp. It would be 1/2 tsp white plus a small spoon of Peach.

For going from Medium to Heavy coverage.....just leave out a few of the scoops of white.

The jar I´m referring to is the 10g from the sample kit, I thought it was 4g  And the ratio that I mixed was 0.5:8 and that was ok in medium but I need more coverage.

MaireH-

A 10 gram jar will hold close to three times your full recipe at 1:16, but make a double so there is plenty of room to mix. For Heavy Coverage, that will be about 1:14. Double ratios are 2:32 and 2:28.
Medium Coverage in a 10g jar.....measure 2 half tsp. of white and 2 small scoops Peach.
Heavy Coverage in a 10g jar.......measure 1 half tsp white plus, 1 quarter tsp white, plus 4 small scoops white, plus 2 small scoops Peach.

A half tsp = 16 small scoops
A quarter tsp = 8 small scoops
An eighth tsp = 4 small scoops
Scoops and tsp. must be level for accurate measuring.

Hi! I'm looking for foundation help for my dear cousin, who is on the right. =]

Image
She has a bit of redness, especially around the nose, but otherwise has pretty good skin. She'd like original or medium coverage. Thanks! :D

(Personally I think she's much more yellow than the picture shows, but she only approved this picture >_o)

I think Buttery Gold.....start at 1:5 and go lighter if needed!
