I use EDM Beige Fairly Light and Meow Frisky Sphynx. any suggestions as to what mixture I should use in Silk Naturals? thank you

Usually it is in the range of Olive 1:14 (1 scoop Olive to 14 Ivory) or Warm Gold 1: Ebony 1: 12-14 Ivory

I just got the sample kit with all the shades, and I'm trying to figure out my mix.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Stefani,
It is hard to tell from that pic as it is indoor lighting, but I am guessing Olive. 1 scoop Olive to about 11 Ivory.

Yeah, I know it's not a great pic, but it was the only one I could find and I was anxious to start playing! I'll see if I can maybe find another picture with better lighting, but in the meantime I'm going to try the Olive mix. Anyway, thanks!

Hi JenW!!
I've been a SN customer for a while and I loooove your products, but, don“t know why, I haven't ever tried the foundation (well, yep, I know why, I have loads of another company's foundation that I am forcing myself to use up. Sigh!!).
As I'm quite clumsy I'm a bit nervous about mixing my own foundation, but all the ladies here really rave about it and all your products have been so far so good, so I've thought I'll give it a try.
I haven't found my perfect match yet but I can wear EDM's Cool Multi-Tasking Neutral in winter and Cool Fair Medium in summer. I also can wear Lucy Minerals' Bisque, but it's a tad dark and pink on me. I would consider myself quite fair, but I usually find wearable shades in the light-medium or medium categories, in Neutral or Cool shades (I haven't tried any Olive shades though).
My face is quite darker than my neck, chest, even arms!! I have some rosacea, that's probably why I've always thought I was Cool, but after reading this thread I'm not sure at all. This is a pic of me in daylight (as much as I can get here, grrrrr):
Any help would be highly appreciated, TIA!!

Hi Pikarian,
My first reaction was Olive. However, reading what you usually wear, I think you need to try Ebony also. Your complexion looks similar to mine, and I can wear them both, with Olive matching slightly better and cutting the redness a little more. Ebony 1 scoop color to about 8 Ivory. Olive 1 scoop to about 12 Ivory. I actually think you will fall in a blend of the two, but try them both alone first.

Great!! That's more or less what I supposed after reading the thread (67 pages, uff!), now I can play the mad scientist game
Thank you so much for your speedy response Jen, I'll let you know how it goes.
P.S: The ladies of the forum are really helpful and caring btw, this forum is like an oasis in the desert <3

hiii Jen!
I want to take the jump into silk naturals, but I am worried that starting off with the sample kits with the original base will not be enough coverage for me. I have acne scars and red marks, which get worse in the summer time. Right now I use Laura Mercier Mineral Primer and Foundation Powder in No. 2, which matches my skin color and covers my skin pretty well, but has absolutely no oil control and accentuates dryness on my skin!
I am going to order the medium and heavy bases first, because I'm pretty sure I need the coverage. Can you recommend what tinted bases I should order with them? And in what combo would you recommend? Also, what primers and/or concealers would be beneficial for me? I have combination skin, oily t-zone, very dry cheeks. And, of course, acne-prone.
I am wearing make-up in these pictures, but it matches my skin tone pretty well, so that's not the problem (my regular skin-tone is actually blotchy and red in certain spots...).
Thank you so much Jen. I'm so excited to try this stuff out. It seems wonderful. =)

I think Warm Gold or Olive will match best. 1 Olive to about 10 scoops Medium (or 8 scoops Heavy). 1 Warm Gold to about 6 scoops Medium (5 scoops Heavy). I would also sample the Oil Control Primer and Oil Control Blur. The tinted versions should work well for you.
Another thing I recommend is to exfoliate well a few times a week. Powder formulations usually do accentuate flaky skin. Plus, the exfoliation helps with cell turnover and keeps the skin supple.
