Eye Shadow Primer in Darker Colors
Eye Shadow Primer in Darker Colors
The e/s primer that is currently sold is amazing as a concealer for undereye circles. I know it is really meant o be a primer, but it just goes on so smoothely and evenly and has a really good buildable coverage and lasting power when used on undereye circles. The problem is it is so light, almost white, that I have to top it off with bronzer if I want to use it on my undereyes. When used as a primer on the lid it is also very white, so I bet people would love to see a darker, skin colored version. I know this product comes from a different manufacturer, so I am not sure if this is even possible, but I thought I'd ask. If it is possible, I think it should also be marketed as an undereye concealer and not just a primer, because it is just amazing at that! Thanks!

Re: Eye Shadow Primer in Darker Colors
It's pretty amazing as an anywhere concealer. I love it for the eyelid and around the eye corners where I get a little darkness. Ironically, the one place that I don't use it is under the eye as I'm beginning to feel time marching all over my face and leaving it's footprints there - well, the lines look more like skidmarks than footprints, but you get the idea...
The way around it being too white is to use about half as much as you think you need and to apply it very lightly. Now here's the trick. Use it to 'prime' your foundation / powder concealer. Just like it grips the eyeshadows, it also grips foundation over those blemishes and it lasts all day long. It's great around the nostrils where I get some redness. Great for scarring too. Once it's covered with foundation, it's still such a fine breathable layer that it doesn't feel any more oily or 'smothered' than any other bit of your skin.
A darker primer is a popular idea, but since this white primer is being discussed, I just thought I'd throw that idea into the mix as it's more versatile than it initially appears.

Thanks!
What I do is top it off with foundation or bronzer to make it look less white, and it works that way. But I was just thinking it has such nice coverage on its own, it would be even better not having to apply a super thin layer so it is not too white, but just having it in a neutral skin tone shade.
I will have to try it on blemishes, good idea, I have not tried it there yet. It is really great at holding on to the powder and making it last longer, its like a concear and primer in one

I do the same as cupcake whack it on the bits that need cover then do my makeup as usual and the foundation sticks so it doesn't look obvious! Marvellous stuff! I'd love a black primer to go under the shadows to give different looks. I keep meaning to try the black cream liner but I can't find samples!

Aye, but the trouble with having things done in a neutral skin tone is that you'll end up with 50 (?) different skintones and, with the SN culture of making requests welcome, potentially everyone wanting it tweaked to their own personal exacting specifications. Nice, handy, but likely to give Karen a nervous breakdown with exhaustion
I've been watching the request threads lately - so many requests are "I want" rather than cool ideas for universally mixable kits or whatever. I'm wandering off point here... requests are good, but to be practical, what I mean is that white and black primers are great, but start making skintone matches and you get into the kind of workload that would break a small company.
In the mean time, for a black 'primer', have a look at the Film Noir cream eyeliner as an interim - or try adding a dab of black mineral liner to the white primer and mixing up a blackened base. Might work?

Ooo that's a really good idea, coal's so pigmented that would probably work pretty well
I've only ever used pencil/liquid liners, are the cream ones tricky and can you smudge them for smokey eyes?

Re: Eye Shadow Primer in Darker Colors
It would indeed be difficult to get a color suited for everyone's skin tone I agree. I am thinking more like light, medium, dark for the colors. Like if you ever get those concealer palettes and they have a couple of colors like that. This way they can also be mixed so people can get a shade close enough for them.
I also thought about melting mine down and adding some of my Buttery Gold to it to adjust the color, but I am too scared to ruin it.

I have used film noir as a black eye primer and it works really ell. I used it over the SN primer (primer, film noir, shadow) and it was amazingly easy to blend.
I have also used the primer as a concealer primer under foundation on blemishes, it works awesomely (also on acne scars, as it is quite opaque it helps cover the redness and helps the concealer stick).

I am so ghostly that I could wear this as a cream foundation lol! It would be cool to have it in black or at least dark grey for shadows though!

Just throwing it out there that the eyeshadow primer is one of the few things on the site that Silk Naturals doesn't make so another color would be totally dependent on the manufacturer...
