any Indians out there using SN ?

Hi ladies,

Im totally new to SN and thought i'd give it a try. I've gotten my inital recommendations from Jen, but i thought i'd post in here to see what my fellow compatriots have been using, just to get a general idea :) I don't know if there are many Indians out there using SN, but if there are, please do give me a reply :)

Im not sure of my MAC match but im pretty sure im in the range of NC43-45(not sure which exactly though :? ) The MUA matched me to NC45, but then again, im not too sure of it.

My lips are pigmented, leaning more towards darker tone both on upper and lower lips.

Im really interested in hearing what foundation recipes( especially if you fall in this shade range), lippies and blushes you all use.

So if any of you out there reading this, sound like you might be in this darkness level, do post a reply.

I look forward to reading all responses 8-)

Hi meriT83! I'm indian and am a tan olive. I've never used MAC foundation before, so I'm not sure what I would match to.

I don't use foundation so I haven't formulated a match for myself, but I do love SN lippies. I also prefer the sheer lippies than the pigmented ones. Bold lippies just don't look right on me. For lippies, I really like Truly and Berry Nice mixed with Gleaming. Oh and a tip when buying lippies, having lips with darker tone will alter the color of lippies... so just keep that in mind :)

I haven't tried many blushes but of the ones I did try - I like Cider, Carnal, Desert Plum, and Embrace. Blush colors that didn't work for me were Satisfied, Tart, Flare, Lovelace.

I hope this helps!!

Hi Kinjali22 !

Thank you soo much for replying. Actually, i just posted the MAC color since many people seem to be using that as a guideline and i went to the MAC counter just to get that number to use online like this :D .
Ive never been much of a makeup person, mostly because i wasnt really good on how to go about it :D Just been using an eyeliner and lipstick mostly, nothing else. Not even a moisturiser (which makes me all sweaty but i do want to try some good ones for oily acne prone skin).

Ive always been interested in foundations but liquid foundation just makes me feel heavy and sweaty, especially in the Indian and Middle East climates. But seeing all the mineral makeup sites, i just had to try it :) still looking for a match though, thats how i ended up here and now seeing all the lippies and blushes, im totally confused what to try :(

You were right, i do have pigmented lips, and i dont like bold colors either. Just a wash of color is all i usually go for, and it's usually towards the brownish side, and once in a while with plums or pinks. so do you have any suggestions along that line ? Truly looks scary , will it suit pigmented lips though ? have you tried nectar? any other along the brownish/reddish/ pink/plum side?

I like the color of embrace, maybe i should try that out? have you got any pics of yourself posted on this forum, for seeing your color ? im mostly yellow beige with some peach(from what i see anyways :P ) have you tried any of the finishing powders/primers?

Hi! I'm an NC43.5 and Indian :)

Foundation/ Try olive and warm gold :)
Blush - I even wore embrace for my wedding so PLEASE try that! I also love tart, carnal, palace, apple and forbidden!
Eyeshadows - Try charmed and sizzle for bolder colours, dark arts, teacher's pet, olive you, chocolate twinkle and terra for softer colours!
Lippies - Try vintage, it's very my lips but better on me! :)

Hi Kirti !

Thank you soo much for replying. Jen told me to try olive with some peach and yellow, if required. (Warm gold and all others except for deep ebony) might be light for me. So did you get the starter kit and then get the full sizes or did u start out with the full sizes? Im totally confused abt what to do cuz i do want to minimize on shipping costs :( do u have any suggestions for me ? I guess we darker tones might need more of the base than the ivory. How long did the samples last for you then before u figured out ur recipe?

Blushes- i definitely like the sound of embrace might try that out first :)

Eyeshadows- Im not an eyeshadow enthusiast at all :P

Lippies- Vintage sounds good, although i don't know how it would look on my pigmented lips(ive posted my pic on another thread, u can see it there and then tell me what might suit me.? btw, do i look olive toned to u too? :) )
I thought i'd try a lighter shade and a darker shade. have u tried truly, seedy, jaybird, nectar, birthday suit, breathless, fig leaf, berry crush/nice any of those ? im totally confused as to where to start...too many to choose from :D

Vintage will be perfect on you! I also love berry nice and fig leaf and they're awesome! I also like autumn ember :)

The sample sizes for the foundation are very generous and you will have more than enough to play around with. Try about 1:3 olive to start and then add peach if you want some warmth. It sound tough, but once you start mixing, you'll kind of see what you nrrd in terms of your match. Just make sure you have plenty of daylight! :D

Oh, so there's no need to get the full size first ? just get samples of olive, ivory, peach and yellow, is it? what do u say? or the all bases starter kit ? ( i know, i know im driving u mad now :D)

Great, so i guess i can order vintage and do you think those other colors will show up on my pigmented lips?

They will all show up! :)

Get warm gold, olive and peach samples for sure with the ivory base! I like the complete starter kit though, since it has jars and scoops so that you can measure out exactly what and how much you used :)

Ok, thanks on the heads up for the lippies and blushes !

I was thinking of getting the olive starter kit, a peach sample and yellow booster. What do you think of this choice ?
