Suggestions for eyeshadow colours for a one-color wash?

Hi! I'm a new joiner to the forum, although I've been haunting this forum for ages!

Please provide suggestions on what colours are good for one-colour washes on the eyelids? I'm a new user to eyeshadows and I am usually late rushing to work  so I hope to just put one colour on my eyelids then run out to work... I'm a fair-skinned asian with black hair and dark brown eyes. (I already have Idolize, Bare, Danny, Sandy, Wave, Haze, Wink Wink and Nudge Nudge.) I'm ok with both neutral and dramatic colours.

Thanks a lot in advance!!

You have a few of my 'one color wash' favorites there! I love Sandy, Wink Wink, and Bare. Others that work well are Cashmere, Sandstone, Highbeam, Honey, Nekkid, Cabana, Quartzite, Teenie Bikini, and Whisper. Hint is another one.

I feel that the best all over washes are in a light to mid tone family. Highlighter colors work well, too. I have a hard time going with anything too bold for a wash, though. Hopefully, others will have some great suggestions, too.

Thanks Jen for your advice!!! Teenie Bikini, Highbeam, Sandstone, Honey and Quartzite sounds like colours that I'd love to wear!

I absolutely can't wear pink though (I look like I have swollen eyes for the drugstore pink eyeshadows that I bought), do you think I could carry off Hint, Cashmere, Nekkid and Whisper? Maybe Nekkid and Whisper would be ok since they're quite shimmery? (I have light skin with yellowish undertones, maybe that's the reason I can't wear pink eye shadows...?) Does Cabana have pink undertones?

Any blues and greens recommendations, possibly?

I understand what you mean about eyes looking irritated when wearing pink/red shadows. Cashmere has enough brown in it. Nekkid and Whisper are sparkley enough and light enough. Nekkid is more of a skintone color (kind of peachy, kind of pink) and Whisper is a shimmery warmish pale pink. Hint is similar to Whisper except that it has a darker pink interference color (means it has a color shifing mica in it) and not quite as warm. In my opinion, none of those colors are close to what irritated eyes look like. They all have 'something' that keeps them out of that category (like brown, shimmer, being light enough, etc.)

I am not an expert on blues or greens, but if I were to pick wash colors in greens, I'd go with Teal Appeal, Charmed, or Pixie (and probably in that order). For blues I'd choose Wave and Sizzle. There are a few whites that color shift, too. Sprite shifts to gold, Gasp shifts to blue, and Fire shifts to Copper. Ooops, forgot Opal, it shifts pink. Breathe is also an interesting color. It is a pinkish lavendar that shifts blue.

Cabana is interesting. I am not sure I would put that one lash to brow, but definitley lash to crease and highlight with gold/yellow. I know you said you have a yellow undertone, so I think Highbeam might be a better choice. Cabana is a little deeper tone than Highbeam, so it is a little peachier (meaning more red than you might want).

Anytime you foil (a fancy word for applying with water) one of the shifting colors, more of the shift color shows up.

It is a great list with lots of neutrals, and some fun!

I have not heard the latest on MOAC 4, so we will all just have to wait together! I don't think it will be all that long, but I am not sure they have recovered from the last big sale! I do know there are lots of fun things in this release and it will be worth it.

Don't be afraid of Cashmere. My redhead friend also has the pink irritated eye look, but Cashmere looked great on her.

I would say Sandstone shimmer and Luxe are my favourite for a one colour wash. Sandstone shimmer is definately better than Cabana, cos Cabana is a bit too pink on me (irritated looking). I also like Danny (a lot) and Sunlit bark too. For lighter colours i would also ay Honey and Sandy, though most pale colours look weird on me.

But definately get Sandstone Shimmer and Luxe.

Wave is my favorite blue at the moment- nice and shimmery. I'm not 100% sure on round 4- imminent- ASAP- most likely next week, but I'm waiting on an order from a supplier so I can do the final production runs of all the new colors! Oh yea, and I have to name them, print the labels, take pics, write the descriptions etc..there's always something, and that's the fun part!
