Lippie suggestions for me?

I would love to get some help from everyone for lippie suggestions. it seems that lots of lippies turn very bright on my lips even though they are not "bright" colors. the best example i have is Swept Away. It's supposed to be a medium very nude (almost brown) pink shade, but on me, it looks bright pink. more like i'm wearing Kiss n Tell or something. here's a pic:
my favorite lippie that i have right now is Nectar. it looked very dark to me in the tube but looks fabulous on. can anyone recommend others to try? i like rare berry but it is again bright (i think it's supposed to be though). i also own the discontinued mulberry spice, and it is a little dark for me for most days.
any thoughts would be very much appreciated

thanks!

I'm thinking muted colors, Packgal. Do you have Breathless? It's pinky-brown-nude, cannot imagine it turning bright but who knows,LOL!

I know what you mean about colors coming out brighter than you think they should. I almost bet you have some pigment to your lips, but have fair skin. I don't think I am as fair as you, but I am definitely in the Light range. I tend to go with more brown colors with a touch of pink. I am one that Birthday Suit looks a bit pink on my lips. I would recommend Fig Leaf and Breathless (this one is about as pink as I can go with my reddish lips, unless I want to really draw some attention there!). If you want a little shimmer, go with Tender.

Hi,I'm hijacking the thread, I'd like your advice about what lipgloss would suit me best, in the range of natural-looking ones : I don't mind something a bit vivid, but if shimmery, it should be only slightly so.
The picture is the best lit I could find, but, but, I have a tan on it so it might be misleading. 11 months on 12, I need something to suit my very pale skin, almost white, and my pink cheeks.
I like Damsel but it looks fake on me, it is funny on but it is really pink. Sweet nothing and Peach melba (dc, might be like mirabelle but without the shimmer) are alright.
(Picture deleted, I'm too shy to let it too long.)

Nina,
The forum ate my first reply on this thread, but I saw your post on the other thread.
Both Tender and Peace will be only slightly shimmery, more color than Gold Blush. Tender more warm pink; Peace cooler pink.
For Mirabelle, think of Peach Melba with hot pink and shimmer added. It really is quite a bit pinker than Peach Melba. I can carry Mirabelle off as long as I don't overdo the rest of my makeup, but that is about the brightest one I can do (I am comparing to me because we are very similar in coloring and lip pigment.)
I was trying to recommend a few other neutrals for you without shimmer. Your lips on thier own have quite a bit of red/pink. For a non-shimmer plummy neutral, try Fig Leaf. For a pink neutral try Breathless. And for a peachy pink neutral, try Maiden. I think Breathless is probably about the pinkest you could go. I have problems with Damsel myself in that it just makes me too bright pink when in combination with the pink already in my lips. Damsel is best suited to those with browner toned lips.

Actually, the Swept Away thing that happened to Packgal may be a Swept Away thing - it looks like that on me too. And Cordial - I know Jen remembers that one - was supposed to be pink, but it was bronze-brown on me - and my lips are medium-pigmented.
Precious comes out as a light metallic peach on me with an emphasis on the light metallic and washes me out - so that may be another one, cos it seems to work fine on everybody else. If I layer it with Ice Princess, it's fine, but by itself, it doesn't work. No idea why, unless it's something in the pigment that doesn't get on with my lip colouring.
Third the request for Rhonda, as I ended up giving mine away to someone who really fancied it.
Nina, I've tried most of the lippies (not all of the new ones, though), and those are the only three that have done strange colour things on me that they weren't supposed to do. I'm about as pale as you, but cool toned, not warm - and your lips look to be about the same pigmentation as mine.

Thank you all! ...

I am a bit disappointed that you do not mention bloom or soft, are they too much something? Or would it be a good idea? After this question I'm done.

Thanks!

You have similar complexion to me, and I think Soft would look really nice on you. Not sure about Bloom, maybe a bit too light. Get Soft, and if you think you can do something babypinker than that (not barbie pink), then Bloom would be nice for you too. They are both shimmerless, and super pretty.

Soft is a little too pink for me. I did not suggest that one for you based on how you felt about Damsel. I think Bloom might be a little light.
