Dark matte purple shadow request
Dark matte purple shadow request
I've never be the type to be into makeup, but after coming upon SN's site, I might actually start caring about makeup. Though I do have a request. I like to wear simple eye makeup especially since I have tiny deepset eyes. Usually I wear a slight highlight over the eyes with the main focus being the eyeliner. I love the dark purples offered on SN, but the purple shadows that can be used as liners tend to have shimmer or be coppery. Sometimes, the shimmer is just a little too much for days that I want to look casual. Sometimes the shimmer makes the purple lighter in color which means having to reapply an extra coat. For those with really small eyes who usually have to limit ourselves to eyeliner as our everyday eye makeup, I would love to see a matte dark purple eye shadow in the lineup. Something like a black grape, or dark royal purple that can be worn everyday. Something that can be worn on days when one doesn't want to resort to matte black or matte dark brown as a liner. Despite this request, I know I'll still be ordering a lot more from SN..sometimes I'm tempted to order products that look absolutely gorgeous, but I know it wouldn't look exactly right for my skin tone. They're just so inviting!! Thank you.

Have you tried Thistle or Velvet? They are both purple and dark enough not to have to reapply. I think Velvet may have a bit of shimmer, but it's darker than it appears on the swatch, but Thistle is matte. I wear it with Lavender, which is also matte. Also, I think Eerie is a very dark indigo blue that is similar to black grape. The swatch on the site doesn't even come close to it, it's darker and purplier but still a bit blue I think. I usually use it as a liner, but can also be used to darken up the crease for purple smokey eyes.
Re: Dark matte purple shadow request
Thanks for the suggestions. It helps to hear from others who have experience with SN eyeshadows. The pics of some colors make me think that they're lighter than they really are or more shimmery than they really are. I'll look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks again.
Re: Dark matte purple shadow request
If you did get a matte purple like Thistle and it was not quite dark enough, you could easily darken it by adding matte black a little at a time.

Thistle is kinda dark- Beach Plum is dark, but a tad on the warmer side- really pretty if you're into neutrals because it's made to blend with them...I think I have a pretty good idea of what you're talking about, and I'll give it a try in the next collection!

Do give Velvet a try - it is way darker in real life than on the individual shadow photo; if you click on the 'kits' section and look at the 'smokey plum' quad (I think that's the one anywayegerandi wrote:Have you tried Thistle or Velvet? The velvet does appear darker on the swatch pic..but maybe I'm wrong, but it kind of looks on brown side to me. All suggested colors are so pretty, but I must be wise about my final decision and not end up splurging
...The black shadow idea sounds promising. I definitely want to try mixing Coal-Blackest Black or Raven into the purple shade I already own (Bewitched) or an additional purple (if I'm tempted to get another..heh). Funny part is I don't even own the basic mineral black shadow so I plan on getting that on next order. It seems to have versatile use...maybe it can be added a bit to one of the dark blues too. Thanks to all with great advice.
