Actually, you're not the only one! Several people commented on the "too pink" problem in the lipgloss thread. I'll repost my comments from there below since it fits in this thread. ;) Have you tried Black Dahlia or Modern Poet? They aren't brown, but they aren't really pink either. :D

"DH and I both tried out the vanilla lip balm and LOVE it! I'll buy another when its released for sure.

St. Tropez is pretty much perfect! The texture is awesome...thick enough to stay put, but not too gooey. It's a soft wearable pink on my lips, kind of like how I expected Soft or Bloom would look (they are both too pink for me). I could actually go for it being a bit milkier in color, but really that's just personal preference, I'm always looking for a pale, milky pink. It would have to be a bit paler to be nude on my lips...but as it is right now, I think it'll be wearable for a lot of people and work as a nude lip for a good number of them!

I love the feel of both Barcelona and Stockholm. The new oil must be what is making them feel so lush. This formula in darker fall shades would be glorious! They feel like the lip balm going on almost. Definitely thicker than the Kisser Slickers. Colorwise though, they look surprizingly similar on my lips. They both are rather pinky... I actually didn't realize they were so different in color until I was reading this thread. I went back and swatched them all on paper and then I could see the color difference big time! But on my lips...not so much. With Stockholm I can see the slight purple sheen and with Barcelona I can tell it's more of a warmer coral pink, but after about 10 minutes I had to blot on paper to remember which one I put on. I don't think most people will have that problem though, I guess for me they just aren't opaque enough and unfortunately these are no exception to the 'turning pink' problem I have.

One day I'm gonna take pictures to demonstrate this weird pink phenomenon I have going on. "

Skinny Dip HAS some pink in it. That's why it turns pink.

I like Jaybird in terms of it not turning pink, it's more of a reddish nude, though.

Everything turns pink on me. I would have to say, though- that in terms of something being matte and neutral, Negligee is the best. It turns slightly pink, but not enough prevent it from being a warmer neutral.

Eternal is very brown on me at first, but then again, it has pink in it, so it's going to turn pinker, but still- it's a subdued pink- the brown prevents it from being too bright.

i like browns and nudes too and agree there's a vast shortage of them (which i believe is do in part to the fact that a lot of caucasian women seem to really hate brown lippies). Maybe Karen will make a new brown lippie or two(and mind you, I AM caucasian), but in the meantime, i recommend:

Ahhh Caramel, how I love you! Handy neutral lippie for me... Still gotta try Iced Mocha!

I think the problem is that many women with fair skintones tend towards the cool or neutral tones in their skin, so favor lip colors that enhance the pinkness naturally found in their lips and skin. On skin like that, brown lippies often look bad (kind of like they've been eating chocolate and forgot to wipe their mouth! ) There are also few orange toned colors which look fantastic on warm skin but on fair, cool skin, they often look garish.

My mom can't wear brown or orange lip colors at all, she's classic cool toned with fair, sensitive skin. Since SN (I think) was started with that demographic in mind, it makes sense that most of the lippies have pink undertones in them. It makes them more wearable by those women, as well as some fair women with neutral and/or warm tones.

The foundation colors have expanded to suit more tones and there are some blushes and lip colors that suit darker and/or warmer tones as well, but if you notice many of those are the newer colors... I figure as product demand picks up more in that area (as it seems to be), Karen will make more colors with that in mind. But, she'll still have to keep the pace with making products for her original demographic, so that means there will still be more pink colors coming out. I imagine that all is quite the balancing act for her! ;)

Almost everything turns red on my lips, that or it doesn't show up (and they're nothing special pigment wise). Colours with brown, like Rhapsody and Caramel, tone down the red a little and look more natural. I love XXX for staying true to brown though ;) and still allowing a -little- of my red/pink to come through. I would like to see more browns as well but I still have a few I'm looking forward to trying - Iced Mocha, Desire, Birthday Suit.

What about sweet nothing? It is not quite brown, but there is absolutely no pink in it. I have trouble with stuff turning pink (although I have found that there are a few actual pinks I can wear), so I most of my lippies are less pink... I will go grab my bag. One I got recently through a RAOK is bonbon (discontinued), which is sooo gorgeous (it looks shimmery dark brown in the tube, but goes on sheer and just looks like a kind of nude lip on me), I wish they would bring it back!
Colours I have that may work include black dahlia, mirage (for a nude look) or sweet nothing (sheer brownish mauve). Most of the other colours I have are berryish, as I can wear berries, but not pinks as such.

*whispers*... there's a photo of the beautiful Jamie from SN HQ on the page for the Yellow Sleep In A Jar Concealer and she's wearing Bon-Bon.

I too have issues w/ lippies turning pink on me. I just looked at Bon-Bon (on Jamie), it looks really nice. Hope they bring it back.

Of the colors Xarata listed Carmel and Birthday Suit turn PINK on me. I placed an order for Desire last week, I so hope it doesn't turn pink. The other colors are fine.

Sweet Nothing and Berry Nice never turn pink. I LOVE Sweet Nothing.

Even Crimson is pink on me, pinkish from the start and pinker as time goes on. The only red that stays red on me is Bitten.

Negligee is a color I NEVER thought would work, but it does. It turns a VERY slight pink, but looks very nice. Eternal goes on brown for me too and gets a slight mauve/pink as time goes on.

Love Sweet Nothing too, one of the only SN lippies that doesn't turn pink on me at all, I wear it a lot! Black Dahlia is like its dark and mysterious older sister...have you tried it?

I can't wear Birthday Suit either. It's one of the first SN lippies I bought because everyone raves about it, but it didn't work. Caramel is fine though, it turns a bit pink, but not enough to be over the top. I recently got Desire and I don't really notice it turning pink, but the color on my lips is interesting.in a good way. ;)

Crimson turns pink on me too, I was so bummed since swatched on my hand it was so gorgeous! I wore Temptation today for the first time and DH did a double take when walking past me and complimented me on the color! I put off buying it since I thought it would turn pink, but I got it in a swap and it actually maintains its red coral tone! So, for now, its as close to red as I'm gonna find I think. ;)

I always thought of black dahlia as the dark and mysterious older sister of bobbi (which is nothing like it looks on the site, it is not pink, it is a ylbb (although who knows, it might turn pink on your superwahz, I think you have more trouble with stuff turning than me even!)

I think we should all petition Karen to bring back bonbon, it is one of those (very rare) lippies I can actually see myself finishing.
