Am I allergic to eyeshadow or doing something wrong?
Am I allergic to eyeshadow or doing something wrong?
I've noticed whenever I wear eyeshadow for more than 2-3 days in a row, I start to get little bumps around my lash line. Does this happen to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Knowing you I'm sure that you're keeping your brushes clean, so my next guess would be, are you making sure you're removing the mmu thoroughly? And maybe using a base/primer could help some with this issue. Also, if you foil your eyeshadow, what kind of medium are you using? Just wondering if you could be reacting to how you apply the eyeshadow rather than the eyeshadow itself. But there could always be something you're sensitive to, I know Karen sometimes has warnings about what certain shades contain listed for a reason.

Thanks, Christine.
Wow, I never thought about that. I normally don't use a base or primer and usually just wash my face with an all over cleanser because I thought fewer products was better. I'll try using an actual eye makeup remover first and see if that's what's going on. What do you use for a primer/base?

This happens to me too. My reaction comes from high amounts of Titanium Dioxide. I also get this from foundation and blush, but takes longer to happen. As w/ you it only takes a few days w/ my lids. I can only wear cappy brands w/ fillers on my eyes.

I actually make my own. I use silk powder, allantoin, rice powder, and arrowroot powder. I use it all over my face and eyelids, before any type of make-up, because regardless of the brand I use, I tend to break out and/or itch or feel irritated if make-up is sitting against my bare skin. I also use this mix as a finishing powder to set my foundation, and it does a perfect job and even leaves the skin "glowing."feyith wrote:Thanks, Christine.

Sometimes I find just letting the cleanser sit on the skin for a few moments before rinsing off does a better job removing all mmu compared to just immediately rinsing it off.

I get this if i don't remove my makeup properly (which I do more often than I should!) Or if I use something glittery and there is lots of fall out, I guess just from getting bits in my eyes.

Does this happen with any color, or just specific ones? I have had problems in the past with pinks and purples, as well as ones that are extra glittery.

If it is near your lash line could it be mascara or eye liner causing this? I know I can have issues with mascara and liners causing irritation, especially non-natural liquid eye liners, some of those really bother my eyes. Also, sometimes foiling my e/s causes a bit of irritation as well, do you foil your shadow or liner? And if so what do you use to foil?
I do agree with the primer, if you find a good one you like and that your eyes seem to be ok with, then it will form a barrier b/w your lid and the e/s.
If you do suspect it might be an ingredient like Titanium Dioxide, try wearing something like a straight up mica from CS or TKB just to see if you still get the same reaction, this way you can figure out if it is an ingredient doing this.

I get that reaction too from eye liners and mascaras. It's worse with waterproof ones, I suspect it's a combo of the added ingredients plus not being able to cleanse the area properly to remove it.Oxana124 wrote:If it is near your lash line could it be mascara or eye liner causing this? Even with SN products though, I get irritation from time to time. I figure it's like a lot of others have said, I'm not getting the make up off well enough. I confess, I'm lazy and sometimes just washing my face before bed feels like a chore. Though, after reading this last night I went through the trouble of using a remover to take off my eye makeup, but that reminded me of why I don't do it all the time. Using cotton balls/pads with the remover hurts my eye area! They are too abrasive...

Oooo, that sounds wonderful Christine!ChristineLynnP wrote:I actually make my own. I use silk powder, allantoin, rice powder, and arrowroot powder. I wonder if SN's Ultimate Luxury Powder would work as a good primer for those that don't want to try making their own?
