Hi Jen!
I love all of SN products but have never been able to get a foundation match. Just ended up using others foundations (nothing that I could actually say was my HG. I think most of this was my own fault, because somehow I had in my head I was a cool. I had a color match (sort of) done yesterday and was told I need yellow or golden based foundation to help cover the redness in my face. I think that she is actually correct but I really wanted to get another opinion and would love to use Karen's foundations as well as I do the rest of her products. This will probably be like starting all over since most blushes and eyeshadows are based on cool or pink based.
I have light to fair complexion, lots of red broken veins on cheeks, nose and lower forehead. I like a dewy glowy finish. I had been trying medium and heavy coverage with ebony. Just didn't work. I liked both the medium and heavy coverage just not the shade. I would like your advise on what shade base I should use. Also, what shades to use in blush and eyeshadows. My glosses and semi glosses will work with any base. Also finishing powder, I love Date Bait but probably need to use Love Lure. I have dark blonde hair and blue eyes.
TIA

Re: Foundation Shade Help
Hi, Nancy!
I bet you would be surprised at how you could get by if you just switced to Warm Gold or Buttery Gold Base. I generally wear Warm Gold, but I wear both warm and cool colored blushes and eyeshadows. However, this is your chance to try out a few warmer toned colors to see what you think. I would still shy away from super warm colors in your case (like very reddish copper colors, or orangey golds). I am sure corally pinks will look lovely, as well as some more bronzey colors for blush (Poppy, Wish You Were Here, Maybe Baby). For eyeshadows, try a few warm browns (Teakie, Honey, Brown Sugar, Posh)
I generally use the Warm to cover some of the redness in my own skintone. Mine is rosacea related. It is interesting that you mention this about thinking you were more cool toned. I went through the same thing. I had always been labelled a 'Winter' by the old 'Color Me Beautiful' of the 80's. I really am more of a warm/neutral. I wear just about any color blush or eyeshadow that strikes my fancy. I do still use Date Bait, too, and actually prefer it only slightly over Tempt Tryst. Love Lure might be just what you are looking for, but it depends on your depth of color.

Hi Jen
Thanks sp much for your quick reply. Yes, Color Me Beautiful is also where I got the pink/cool from.
I have some samples of the warm gold and the buttery gold, going to mix of some samples. Be ready tomorrow morning.
I also have Poppy blush so I should be already to experiment away.
I will let you know how it works out.

Hi Jen!
Just thought I would let you know that I have been experiencing around with the yellow based foundation and It is working very good to hide the red in my face. Have been using Poppy for a blush and Brimstone for eyseshadow, I am going to have to buy some of the browns/neutral you suggested. I had mixed this foundation with medium coverage base, am going to try the next time with the heavy coverage. I think that will work better.
So glad I am finally able to use SN foundation. Thanks again for you help.

Honey and Posh are similar. Just the finish is different, and Honey might have a tad more color to it. I will be reswatching eyeshadows soon.

Hi Jen!
I got my latest order yesterday, fast shipping, send Wednesday from New York and got yesterday (Friday) in Florida. I ordered almost everything you had recommended earlier and I love it all. Especially love the Brown Sugar eyeshadow. Has just enough sparkle in it that it is not completely matte but not shimmering either.
After more experimenting, I went with the Golden color for the foundation and it is working out just great, and all these years thought I had to have something with a pink undertone. Never to late to learn.
I want to thank Karen for all the samples that were included and can't wait to try all of them.
Thanks again Jen and Karen. Silk Naturals is the best because of people like you two.
