Serum smell???
Serum smell???
I just got the oil control serum and it has this awful fishy smell. I don't know if it was there from the beginning and I didn't notice it because of nose congestion issues, but at the very least after I've had it for a few days the smell is very prominent. It's making it almost unbearable to put on my face. Has anyone else experienced this?
Re: Serum smell???
For what it's worth, i've had this problem with products before. I don't remember if it's raspberry seed oil or rosehip seed oil but some of the Sarafina moisturizers back in the day REEKED of what to me smelled like seaweed (fish the ocean). Bill used to add bergamot oil to my moisturizers to combat the smell because it really was unbearable. Luckily, it's not a smell that lingers after application.
On the other hand...i really don't remember a smell with the oil control serum so i'm sure Jen or Karen will chime in with whether or not it's supposed to smell like that...

Re: Serum smell???
I am sorry that I don't know much about the oil control serum. I am more on the dry side, so I never tested that product.
All I can say is that natural products do sometimes have a different scent than you are expecting. I know that does not help much, but we don't add fragrances because many are sensitive to them.

Re: Serum smell???
I understand about not adding artificial fragrances to avoid setting off people's allergies. I wouldn't mind the addition of a fragrant essential oil if the formula was ever tweaked.

Re: Serum smell???
It's not something I've noticed with it...but I know there was someone else saying the same thing. It may be that some people pick up on it more than others...I'll ponder some things.

Re: Serum smell???
Any raspberry seed oil I have ever used had a kind of funky smell to it, but in Karen's formulation it is more tolerable to me.
Re: Serum smell???
Me.. I commented about the fishy smell before. I thought there was seaweed extract or something.

Re: Serum smell???
I have the oil control serum and I can smell it too. I believe it is the smell from the Argania Spinosa extract. I have a sebum control serum from another seller and it also had this same fishy smell. The only similar ingredient is the Argania Spinosa extract. But I prefer the silk natural's one so much more as the fishy smell from other one is too strong for my liking (I can't put it anywhere near my nose). Furthermore, the silk natural's one is much more affordable!
