Serums and tretinoin

Post by Lea » Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:58 pm

Hi, longtime SN user, new name. I forgot my login details and the email I registered with is now inactive, so Aurora is now Lea. :?

I'm on tretinoin, not Retin a, but a Scandinavian, generic version, 0,5%. I just got the super serum sampla, the BHA toner and the vitt C + peptide serum, I obviously cannot wait to use everything. I know BHA and tretinoin can cause more flaking and dryness, so I was thinking that I'd use the toner in the morning and tretinoin at night, but where do the serums go? Should they not be used after BHA/during the day/whatever?

Also, finally found the base I've been looking for, thank you Karen for bringing out Olive!

Personally I do BHA at night.. it's a watery formula, but it's really a full-strength BHA. There isn't much of a reason to do it if you're already on tretinion though as they kinda do the same thing. I'd talk to your doctor about that one because it's just not my place to recommend exfoliation with a prescription medication from everything I've read they really don't go together.
The serums can go anywhere in your skin care routine- they're water soluable so under a cream would be better. As far as I know there shouldn't be any reaction between them and the tretinoin.

Thanks for the quick reply, Karen! I'll hold off on the BHA for a while, and perhaps alternate nights at some point.
