Super serum making skin dry?

Post by xiaoyi » Thu May 06, 2010 3:42 pm

Hi all,

In an attempt to start some sort of skin care regimen (besides just washing my face every day and using sunscreen when I remember) I got some of the Super Serum and started using it at night. It makes my skin feel taut and a little dry after application, and after a while I started noticing dry flaky patches, particularly along the sides of my nose and around the mouth area. Is this a normal reaction? Should I start using some kind of moisturizer or hydrating serum in conjunction with it?

A hydrating serum or a moisturizer sound like a good idea. The skin feeling tight is kind of what it does, but the flaking should not be part of it. It does sound like you are a little dry. I don't know many who use the serum on its own without some kind of moisturizer. There are a few, though.

I have normal - dry skin too. I use super serum at daytime and continue with jojoba moisturizer. I like this combination (that's why I want Karen make jojoba moisturizer in bigger bottle!!), my skin is not greasy but still soft and moist. If I feel my face a lil bit dry or flaky, I use AHA toner at night and in the morning my face will soooo smoooth.

I have combination skin and was using Super Serum coupled with the Firming moisturiser for daytime usage.
It did feel a bit tight right after Super Serum (or even Facelift Serum) was applied.
Added the Aloe Serum to apply atop the Super/ Facelift Serum), followed by a moisturiser.
It helps a lot better. I'm definitely loving this combination instead!

In the daytime, I use Super Serum followed by Firming or Raspberry. (Alternating every other day- or using Raspberry if my sun exposure is more than usual....)

I'm in my 30s, with oily-to-combination skin.
