Help with foundation, lips, eyeshadows and blushes

Post by dianic » Wed Oct 10, 2012 5:52 am

I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions for colors that would suit me and what foundation mix would be good to start out with.

When it comes to eyeshadows I'm mostly interested in one-wash shades that would look nice on me and perhaps some suggestions on what colors would make light brown eyes pop. Would love some suggestions for nude colors that has some colored sparkle perhaps. Or maybe one of the kits that comes with instructions.

For lippies at the moment I have Nice Tan, xxx, breathless, pretty please and hey baby. I was considering damsel as well. Or coy. My lips looks thin in dark colors.

I haven't really used make-up since I was a teenager so a little help would be highly appreciated.

I have some blush on in the first picture but otherwise nothing.

For foundation, I think you are going to be a Warm Gold or an Olive. Warm Gold will be close to 1 scoop color to about 8 or 9 white....Olive will be close to 1 scoop color to about 12-14 white.

I think you need warmish pinks for your lip and skin color. Damsel is pretty intensely cool pink. How pink is Breathless on you? If you wanted something slightly pinker and less brown, you might try Soft instead.

Browns, neutrals, and purples will always look good for eyeshadow.... Sari is a good one color wash. Jump and Alibi are good ones...Alibi is lighter, Jump a little deeper.

For blush, a bronzer or something peachy pink.....Bronze Beauty and Afterglow.

Hopefully more people will chime in about the eyeshadows and lip glosses. Blush, too!

Thank you for the reply Jen!
About the lippies, I was supposed to write that I had them in my shopping cart. Sorry about that. I haven't tried any of them so I really don't have anything to compare to.

Ahh...I would skip XXX for now. It is tan and opaque. It is more of a wash out shade, as is Coy, but Coy is sheer so it is a little more forgiving. If you decide that you can go tanner than Nice Tan, XXX will work. The others are great choices!

I immediately thought of Soft for you too. Aria, Blushberry could work and maybe Birthday Suit and Negligee as neutrals. Possibly Raindrops on Roses if it is not too cool for you (imho one of the most beautiful lipsticks Karen has ever made). Warm pinks and neutrals leaning to warm would work best.

Eyeshadow: Jen mentioned plums, I quite like Surge and Plush and Serene (though the last one is more of a highlighter). Charmed could work as a green wash for your lid. Filter eyeshadows for the eyelight finish, they really make your eyes pop, Custom could be lovely for you. For neutrals the Stonewashed Nudes Kit is fantastic, it's so very versatile and I found doing makeup on my flatmate that even the cooler shades can be worn if your skin tone is warm.
