Color Challenged please help???

Post by lwoodall10 » Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:03 pm

Hi,

I want to try a new look...I am very much a neutral girl. Looking through some magazines I have noticed the dark plums and reds are the trend for the fall and wanted to try some of these looks out. I just purchased the lippies Morrello and Sugar Plum and want to do something with those. I think Morello I can handle, because I can do neutrals with that  . Sugar Plum is throwing me off a bit...I would love some eye color and blush suggestions from all you lovely ladies.

Also, one other color question. I did a really pretty smokey eye with some of the Purple shades; Vineyard and a Dark Purple from another company with vanilla as a highlight color, but the blush I used did not seem to go together. Any suggestions. It was a soft pink blush, not SN :( , but it just not looke quite right. I have several of the SN blushes if anyone has any suggestions. Also, it would not be too hard to persuade me to make another purchase.

Thanks,
Susan

Hiya - this isn't a very good suggestion ;) but if I'm having a colour-shy day and want to balance a stronger lip colour, I do a 'no eyeshadow' look with a pale, blank skin-tone wash or slight shimmer but the focus is a coloured eye liner applied in a 1940's kind of style - long swish with a cat-like outer corner flick over the upper eye lid. I'm ultra-pale, so a strong colour (anywhere) washes me out and too much colour make me look... ahem, ;) So rather than a definition-less neutral eye which would make my lips stick out as overly-bold, a swish of coloured eyeliner is enough to say "I did this on purpose" sort of 'holding it's own' in the fight to balance out the lip colour, plus it's quite individual and stylish without being too fashion-conscious. Hope that helps.

Helena,

That's a great idea, what a about a blush color? Something really pale as well, like Petal, or Maybe Baby?

Hmmm, I'm pale and I can usually match blossom, lady or cheeky to anything :) I would like suggestions too, perhaps coordinating suggestions on the site? There is already a selection of blushes by tone, so that may help.

Pretty Plum applied with a light hand might work.
