I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Just received my Spring Collection order...GORGEOUS blushes!
I have to say though, I would prefer paying extra and having a sifter. What a MESS I just made opening my blushes...

yeah, i'm not particularly fond of the new jars either since i like to be able to really see through them. When I find a fav. blush, I buy a full size, but i keep all the samples and occassionally dip into them when i need a little something different (everyone knows i wear sassy almost everyday and before that cocoaberry. lol- they're both discontinued but i think i have enough product to last. lol. I have FS sassy, sample sized sassy, and a pressed sassy.

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Yeah, I'm such a klutz, I managed to dump all my Cosmic sample on the first try! Fortunately, it all went on my bathroom counter, whew, so after crying out and scaring my boyfriend, I managed to scoop most of it back into the container. Dropped Pink Twink into the sink last night, and would have cried really hard if it wasn't for the sifter.
What I'm saying is that it's all my fault, but I would pay more for the sifter or perhaps get them in a baggie? On another thought, I should really just clean all my old sifter jars left over from the shadows I pressed, and solve my problems.

I know this was a tough one for Karen. The price of the sifter jars went up significantly and the sifters add quite a bit more processing time than the current sample jars. Her goal was to keep the samples reasonably priced. I still personally think they are a better option than a baggie for a sample. I also know many of us have enough sifter jars lying around to transfer the samples into if needed.

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Yes it was a tough one...brought on by our main jar supplier being completely out of 5-gram jars for the next month or so. We have 2 suppliers for them but the other one charges roughly double for them. So- rather than bump the prices pretty significantly or switch to bags (which I really don't like for blushes) we went with the sifterless jars at least until our other supplier gets them back in stock. I like to keep samples as inexpensive as I can, but I understand about the convenience as well. It's something to ponder when they get back in stock, but I can't promise anything.

I applaud Karen's decision to keep costs affordable. I wouldnt mind washing out and recycling the old empty sifters. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Besides, it's good for the pocket!

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Karen, would it be possible to offer the sifters on the site or 2 samples of the same colour with the options to choose sifter or not, just in case some people (me) may not mind paying a little extra for the sifters..
the samples jars of stardust, galazy, gemini and cosmic are such a cute shade of pink (totally love them, are they by the alternative supplier you mentioned earlier?) but there was quite a bit of spillage on the edges of the jars and as I'm a new makeup user, I don't really have spare sifters or empty jars lying around..
would so appreciate it there were more options for this.

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Right now these jars are the best option. We do have empty sifter jars available on the website for those that don't have them on hand. Also, it might be a good idea to open them over wax paper if you are concerned about spilling and do a transfer to a sifter jar. There are definitely ways to for you to get the packaging you seek for your sample; it just does not arrive that way.
The decision regarding the new sample packaging was not made lightly. As soon as we would adjust the price to reflect the new cost of a sifter jar, there will be another group that will be upset about the cost to product amount. It is a situation where we have to chose what is the best for everyone. Offering two types of samples may seem a simple solution, but there are a few big problems. First, we don't have the space. Second we don't have the resources to invest that much time and manpower on adding that type of product to the website. It is a sample. Samples, by design, are used to determine if a product color works for you prior to purchasing a full size. The full size products are created to offer the best packaging experience.
I do understand your frustration, but we are all very resourceful in making things work for us! I hope this helps to explain the situation a little better.

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Jen, I understand. no worries!

Re: I miss the sifters with sample size blushes :(
Hey Ladies, if I may make a suggestion, I don't really require sifters in my jars because of the way I apply my blush. Rather than tapping out a requisite amount, I shake the jar a bit, tap it on its base and carefully unscrew. The thin layer of product left in the lid is perfect for touching your blush brush to and dusting it on. I find that for the more pigmented blushes, what's left in the lid is enough for both cheeks. With blushes like Climax, then I usually go for two rounds of shake and tap.
With eyeshadows, use the tiniest brush you have to dip out eyeshadow onto the lid.
To be honest I find these two methods so efficient and neat that I have even removed sifters for powders that don't seem to come through the wee holes very well.
Hope that helps! Do let me know what you think.
